In life, we face many situations that make us feel an array of emotions; some are happenings that we favor because of their outcomes; some even bring us to the edge of hopelessness; while others arise a complex tangle of emotions in us. Whatever the case may be, life is an intricate balance of a colorful spectrum that everyone experiences at a varying pace and to a varying degree. Diane Adams’ life was much the same, bringing her many experiences that shaped her into the person she came to be. Her book, Burning for Love, details her story for people who are on the verge of hopelessness.
I was born into an average American family from Arizona, with a homemaker for a mother and a father who had recently been on active military duty. But some years after Diane’s birth, their family moved to Alaska. Being from a family with a diverse ancestral history, Diane’s mother hadn’t received much formal education, opting to drop out of high school in order to get married to Diane’s father. While her father was away on duty, her mother worked at a local fast food joint.
Seemingly from a normal family, it wasn’t until later years that Diane learned of the emotions that loneliness and betrayal brought with them. Being emotionally manipulated by her mother and physically abused in the absence of her father, Diane soon found her mother to not be a person she could rely on to be cared for or loved by.
Longing for her father’s presence and navigating around her mother’s abuse and emotional outbursts, Diane soon learned to rely on herself to learn the basic life skills that only a parent can teach their child. An upbringing like that was hard on her, as it would be for anyone who received it. It changed the course of her life while teaching her how to appreciate the little blessings that life gave her.
Burning for Love chronicles Diane Adams’ journey through life as she walks through different phases and ultimately towards her recovery, learning important lessons along the way. The book is now available on the official website and on Amazon.
